E. Arlin Torbett, Ph.D. - Founder / Chairman / CEO

Dr. Arlin Torbett has over 30 years of executive management experience in business development, marketing, research, and engineering. Prior to founding AgriWorld Exchange, Dr. Torbett, as Chairman/CEO of mobileID, launched the Mobile Internet Alliance, providing an advanced Java-based platform to wireless carriers (both domestic and international) for mobile wireless Internet application development. At GWcom (now mTone), a wireless start-up, he held numerous executive positions including Chief Architect, Corporate Vice President-Business Development, and President of byair.com USA. He formed byair.com USA, a wireless Application Service Provider (ASP) business unit focused on the US mobile e-Commerce market. As President of byair.com, he developed strategic partnerships with Inktomi, Google, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Target, Know-Where, and StreamingMedia as well as several US wireless carriers. Earlier in his career, at SRI International, Dr. Torbett led DARPA-funded research on packet-radio, packet-switching technology, and Department of Defense efforts on fourth-generation computer architectures. Dr. Torbett holds a Ph.D. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University, a M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Georgia Tech. Dr. Torbett holds four patents on packet data systems for mobile Internet communications.
